Wedding Policy & Facility Usage

The church’s facility was provided through God’s benevolence and by the sacrificial generosity of church members. The Church desires that its facility be used for the fellowship of the Body of Christ and always to God’s glory. We make our facility available to our members and approved non-member persons and groups as a witness to our faith, in a spirit of Christian charity, and as a means of demonstrating the Gospel of Jesus Christ in practice.

Bride or Groom must have been a member of the church for at least two (2) years prior to booking a wedding in order to receive member rates.
BOOKING Steps for booking a wedding at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church:
1. Call or visit the church to meet with Administrative Assistant, Larrye Kelly, to check available dates and review our wedding policy.
2. You will sign and receive a copy of our wedding policy and an invoice. A $300 payment is due to confirm the wedding date.
3. The remaining balance is due one (1) month prior to your wedding date. All checks must be made payable to Sixth Avenue Baptist Church.
4. Should you cancel your date, a $200 cancellation fee will apply.

The ceremony rate includes the following:
- Sanctuary or Chapel rental
- Two (2) hours of rehearsal on the day prior to your wedding date
- Two (2) hour set-up period prior to ceremony time
- Bride’s Room
- Groom’s Room
- Other rooms for wedding party, as available
- Housekeeping services
- Gift table (the Bride must provide a tablecloth)
WEDDING COORDINATOR

The Wedding Coordinator serves as our church’s representative on your rehearsal and wedding days. Her duties include making sure the church is comfortable and available for the wedding party’s needs. She will be available on your wedding day to let you know the location of dressing rooms and assist with general hospitality needs.

AUDIO VISUAL
Video services are available. This can be arranged with our media department for an additional charge.

OFFICIANTS

It is permissible for a guest minister from another church to officiate at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church. Our Ministerial Staff fee is $200.00

DATES

We do not schedule weddings on Sundays, Easter and Thanksgiving Weekends, or the latter part of December due to previously scheduled holiday church events and programs.

DECORATIONS

Fresh flowers are allowed in our Sanctuary. However, the bride must use silk petals for the flower girls’ baskets. Sixth Avenue Baptist Church does not allow the use of tape, nails or screws to secure decorations. Dripless candles may be used in the Sanctuary.

Your selection of music should reflect the worship and dignity of a sacred service. The Music Coordinator will contact the bride to arrange a time to meet and discuss musical selections and to provide any requested music. The Music Coordinator may provide counsel to your wedding if you do not have fully developed music plans. The Music Coordinator can also arrange for soloists and musicians, if you desire.
Music and musicians employed for your service must be approved by the Music Coordinator. All music enjoyed before, during and after your wedding ceremony shall be appropriate sacred, classical, instrumental or semi-classical – in keeping with the reverence of the worship service. Only church-approved musicians may use our organ. Our prayer is that the Lord will bless you with His divine ‘favor’ as you plan and execute this most sacred and reverent service. For further information with regard to your wedding music needs, please contact our Music Coordinator or email your selections to Dr. Yolanda Bentley at ybentley@sixthavebaptist.org. may be used in the Sanctuary.

Each song used before, during, and after the wedding ceremony must be approved by the Music Coordinator of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church. Please fill in the songs/ composer/ singer for each area of your program, where applicable. Pre-nuptial Music – A ten minute period is suggested. Selection may be vocal and/or instrumental.
